This book tells the story of the city of Santa Barbara’s Presidio, beginning with the story of its adobe construction between 1784 and 1790. The Santa Barbara Presidio was the last Spanish fort founded and built not only in California, but in all of Spanish North America.
Jarrell C. Jackman worked at the Santa Barbara Trust for Historic Preservation where he served as projects administrator and later CEO. For his work on the Santa Barbara Presidio, he was knighted a commander in the Spanish Royal Oder of Isabel la Catolica by King Filipe VI of Spain.
